What is a Woodchips Mentor?
One of the most important roles of a
mentor is to serve as a teacher to the novice woodworker. Mentors share their body of experience,
relating what they have learned in ways that will connect with the member.
Mentors also function as advisors; by providing the member a feasible solution
to a challenge. In a sense a mentor can be thought of as a Coach, who provides
active feedback and guidance.
How to Contact a Woodchips Mentor
For more information on the Woodchips Mentor Program, contact the Woodchips Operations Officer via e-mail. Click HERE to send an e-mail.
BEFORE requesting a mentor, however, be sure to complete training on every tool cluster you will require for your project. Information on how to schedule cluster training is available under the “Training” button on this website.
Another source of
information is the Woodchips Shop Manual, which is also available on our
website. Shop rules, procedures and
safety requirements are included in the manual, and every member should be
familiar with all of them.
We hope you will
find the Member Mentor Program helpful and worthwhile, and we are looking
forward to placing your completed project on our website for all to see.
