SCA WOODCHIPS WOODWORKING CLUB

702-614-5818

The Sun City Anthem Woodchips Woodworking Club was formed in 2003 to provide a dedicated woodworking venue for the SCA Community. The Club welcomes any resident that  has an interest in working with wood and creating any wooden project including jewelry boxes, pull-out drawers, entertainment centers, turned spindles and bowls or ornate carvings. The Shop has approximately 2,000 square feet and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the supervision of a volunteer Foreman and Monitor.

The Club’s primary concern is safety.  While providing a friendly environment to work with modern machines, the Club has established strict procedures to ensure the safety of our members. All safety information can be found in our Shop Manual located on our website at:  www.scawoodchips.org.

Cluster training is conducted to qualify all Club members on the safe operation and proper use of the Shop’s equipment before members are allowed to use any of the machines.  Advanced and specialized training is provided as required. The Woodchips website contains complete information on all training, schedules, operational procedures, member projects and meeting minutes.  For new members, the Shop Orientation class is provided regularly, is mandatory, and must be completed within 60 days of joining.  To schedule a training class or cluster, go to “Training” on our website, then “How to Schedule a Training Class” and follow the instructions.

The SCA Woodchips Woodworking Club works with SCA, RMI and other clubs to provide assistance with their projects. Woodchips also participates in charitable causes pertaining to woodworking.  Additionally, the joy of woodworking will be enhanced through various seminars, demonstrations, field trips and special projects.

We welcome new members and look forward to you joining our Club.  Club dues are $25 annually.  Membership meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 2:30pm in the Independence Center Penn Room and you are encouraged to attend.
