
For some projects, it
works better to create a rabbet after assembly, like creating a recess in a
door for a glass panel. This is definitely a job for a rabbetting
bit. Here the bearing controls the width, so you’ll need to adjust the height
to take multiple passes. And the above photo shows you the proper direction for
routing.

Bearing. The bearing sets the width of the
rabbet. But it can’t get into the tight corners.

Square Up. Over at the workbench, use a wide
chisel to finish off the rabbet in the corner.
